Dr Maria Michalitsi is a counselling psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and Chartered by the British Psychological Society. She completed her Doctorate in counselling psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University and obtained a BSc (Hons) in psychology at Panteion University of Athens. She has clinical experience in a variety of settings, including the NHS and voluntary services. She is currently working as a senior counselling psychologist in a Central London NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Michalitsi has extensive experience working with people with a wide range of difficulties across the lifespan, including low mood, anxiety-related issues such as social anxiety, generalised anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder, low self-esteem, relational difficulties, emotional dysregulation and trauma. She provides evidence-based psychological therapy and has specialist training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, and third-wave approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness.
Dr Michalitsi works in a collaborative and flexible way, tailoring her approach to meet her client’s unique needs and goals. She believes in the importance of the therapeutic relationship and works within a client-centred framework with the aim of empowering her clients to reach their full potential.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Michalitsi has experience in teaching and training NHS teams and offering supervision to other practitioners.
