Dr Chiara Vari is a specialist clinical psychologist and registered psychodynamic psychotherapist. She has trained extensively in both Italy and in the UK. Dr Chiara Vari completed a MSc and a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Sapienza University of Rome. She also completed further training (MA) in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. She currently works within the NHS, alongside her private practice.
Dr Vari works within a psychodynamic and schema therapy framework. Dr Vari’s focus is offering a long-term space for individuals to deepen their personal understanding. While this way of working may prove challenging at times, it can also grant a higher degree of internal and interpersonal flexibility, as well as symptomatic relief.
Dr Vari has extensive experience working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, traumatic past experiences, difficulties in adapting to life changes such as motherhood and stablishing meaningful and fulfilling relationships. She also has experience with individuals coping with long term physical illnesses. Having worked in health psychology research, she is interested in the psychological impact of medical health conditions e.g. skin diseases, muscle conditions.
